Why Many People Still See The U.S as the Land of Opportunity

When people gave everything they want in life, a home, family and a great job they say they are living the American Dream. In 1931, a man named James Truslow Adams said " life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement. The United States found independence in 1776 and they have been self-promoted as the Empire of Liberty. Many, many years after independence the United States was known as the Melting Pot. Soon people were coming over here to starts a new life. Ellis Island where the Statute of Liberty stands saw hundreds and thousands of immigrants come over to begin their new lives here.

The United States had everything that immigrants were looking for, a way to start over with something to work for. Life isn't always easy for immigrants but back when the U.S saw people coming from Ellis Island we were giving them new names and numbers so they can be identified as Americans. Today our laws are much stricter, there is no more Ellis Island the gateway to a better life. Today, there are citizenships tests for anyone who wants to come here. Some do it the right way and they can legally enjoy the freedoms that the United States offers but there are still those who come over illegally by sneaking into the country looking for a better way of life.

Today the world has 7 billion people living in it and everyone wants a better life and a better life than they had for their children. With so many people coming over here everyday, it is started to get crowded. If you are planning to come over to the United States we do suggest that you do it legally. There is a crackdown on people who are sneaking in illegally and the Department of Immigration is always working to locate the illegal and send them back. So if you want entry into the United States for the American Dream then please so it the right way.

Though economically the United States is considered to be in a recession, there are still things here that people still call the land of opportunity. We have a democratic government, we elect our President every 4 years and unlike some other countries if the leader that rules their country isn't liked there really isn't much you can do about it. We have a government that enforces laws but these laws are designed to help and protect the people of the United States not hurt them.

We do not always agree with what the government says or does but Americans live a free life. You can create your own American Dream but taking opportunities that no one else wants or sees. The United States offers everyone who is here legally the chance to grow and create the life they have always dreamed of. There are some great countries all over the world where people can go and create their own dream but America has always been a place where even if we are down we are never out.
