The Need For Legal Regulation of Immigration Nowadays

There are many ways for people for immigrants to gain entry to the United States

  • Spouse is a Citizen
  • Asylum Seeker
  • Parents are Nationals
  • Illegal Migrant
  • Green Card

Of course not everyone who comes here will be allowed to stay just because, if you are a worker then you will need a Visa and these Visas do expire. Chances are if you are married to a citizen you will need to obtain a Green Card. Commonly the illegal immigration is how many people come here. Years and years ago this may not have been a huge deal as it is today. With terrorism on the rise, we cannot afford to have people here that do not want to be here the right way and this is true not just for the United States but for other countries as well.

Back in the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries we saw millions of people come over form Europe but they came as workers or they passed through the immigration Process legally. Though many consider the United States to be the land of opportunity and they want the American Dream, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about getting the right status. With hundreds of thousands of people coming over every year, there had to be regulations that the government had to place on immigrants coming over.

President Bill Clinton used the U.S Commission of Immigration Reform to recommend that the number from 800,000 people a year coming to the US had to be reduced to 550,000 people. Roughly 8 million immigrant came over to the US from 2000 to 2005 and almost half of them came here illegally. 1.1 million immigrants were given legal residence here in the United States in 2009. There has to be legal regulations for any one who wants to come to a country that is not their homeland.

The reason being is that people, who come over, do so illegally and these are the people that tend to ruin it for everyone. With growing threats of terrorism and drug cartels many come over to do illegal activities and that does cause the government to crack down on immigration and it really does hurt the chances for the people who really want a fresh start to lose out. In the United States alone, there were more legal immigrants from 199 to 2000 and about 10 to 11 million were legal. Legal registration would also help control the population of the United States and there would be better opportunities for everyone if the country was not becoming overcrowded. Best advice for anyone coming to the US, come over legally by doing that you will see that there are more opportunities for you as well as the United States Constitution and all of our laws would be able to protect you, by coming over illegally the only thing that is going to happen is you are going to be deported. If immigrants truly want a better life the legal regulations will be there to help you.
